Our Exercise Physiologists/Diabetes Educators Martina and Claire are accredited T2D educators & have devised a group program called Living Well With Diabetes. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for some time, our education program isdesigned to benefit you. The program will provide you with up-to-date information and skills to assist with managing your diabetes. During the 8 weeks you will focus on a range of topics including what diabetes is, eating right, simple exercises, and more. Attending our group education class may assist you with, improved blood glucose, body weight control, understanding diabetes medications, improved blood cholesterol and blood pressure.
LIVING WELL WITH DIABETES An 8 week Diabetes education and exercise program for people with pre-diabetes, newly diagnosed or living with diabetes that need further support and education. WHO CAN ATTEND? Anyone living with diabetes. The main focus within this group at present will be on individuals with Type 2 diabetes or seeking diabetes education. WHATS INCLUDED? Week 1 - Introduction. pathology of diabetes, blood glucose monitoring and goal setting. Week 2 - Physical activity. Week 3 - Biochemistry and medication education. Week 4 - Nutrition. Week 5 - Nutrition continued. Week 6 - Lifestyle. Week 7 - Psychology and emotional support. Week 8 - Overall care, annual cycle, associated health conditions and goal assessment. Each week will also include exercise in addition to the education component. COST? FREE if referred by your GP under the allied health group exercise referral or $15 per week if the referral is unavailable. HOW TO ENROL?
